Alaskan Klee Kai National Rescue

AKKNR Board of Directors would like to congratulate the first recipient of the Volunteer of the Year award, Leslie Welker, who is recognized for her outstanding volunteer work during 2009.  Leslie worked as a key team member in the Northwest, volunteering for Transportation and Foster Care for Rescued AKK, Kai.  She transported Kai across the state for a week long stay and evaluation at her home.  She took Kai to the vet’s office for his Health Certificate and Exam.  Transportation was coordinated with the BOD, and Leslie drove a few hours to the airport for Kai to make his 5am travel time. She  experienced her first dog air transport.  She had nothing but wonderful things to say about the Delta Cargo manager in Spokane, WA.  On top of it all, Leslie’s employer, Wal-Mart, matched Leslie’s volunteer time by donating to AKKNR through The Wal-Mart Foundation.

Leslie wants to especially thank fellow team members, Robin Carlstrom, and Bette Cook, as she could not have done what she did without the help of the Northwest group. AKKNR adds our thanks to them, and all the volunteers.  We couldn’t exist without all of you!

Don't forget that someone special on Valentine's Day!

Alaskan Klee Kai National Rescue (AKKNR) is holding their first eBay auction beginning on May 1st. May Day seems very appropriate, since May Day is also a distress call and AKK National Rescue can always use help. All proceeds of this auction will go to help those Alaskan Klee Kai who come through the AKK National Rescue Organization.

AKKNR takes in abandoned, abused, neglected, and owner surrendered Alaskan Klee Kai. They work with other rescues and shelters to find Alaskan Klee Kai suitable forever homes. They provide foster homes for rescued Alaskan Klee Kai that need a place to stay while they are waiting for their forever home, as well as work on socialization, training, and obtain any needed veterinary care. They screen all potential homes carefully, to ensure each Rescued Alaskan Klee Kai gets its perfect forever home. Their goal is to help all Alaskan Klee Kai that need to be helped, and help them find wonderful homes where they will be healthy and happy for their entire lifetime.

The AKKNR fundraising committee is asking for donations of items, gifts and services that will be auctioned off during this fundraising eBay event. So, if you can make a gift, buy one and/or offer your particular service(s) we’d be forever grateful.

We will be accepting donations up to Saturday, April 24th, so that everything can be set up in time to start the auction on May 1st. When you send your donations to AKKNR, please specify if it is a *stand* alone item or if it can be placed with other items in a *gift basket*, also specify the approximate value of your item(s).
